General Director of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Mauro Longobardo and Rector of Kryvyi Rih National University Mykola Stupnik signed a Memorandum of Cooperation. Its goal is to promote the implementation of a high-quality training system for the mining and metallurgical industry of the region and Ukraine.
The Memorandum provides for cooperation in several areas. The first is educational. The university will train and retrain students in accordance with modern standards and employer requirements, conduct joint research activities on relevant topics, take part in international projects in order to receive grants for the development of science and technology. In turn, "ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih" is ready to provide students of KNU with all types of internships, internships, excursions in the structural units of the enterprise, participation of its specialists in examination boards.
The second direction concerns the improvement of the material and technical base of the university and the implementation of social projects. In particular, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih expressed its intention to assist in the repair of the university stadium. This is not the first example of such cooperation. Earlier, in 2018, the company's Charitable Fund allocated UAH 242 thousand for the installation of new windows in the sports hall of KNU.
Nikolay Stupnik, Rector of Krivoy Rog National University:
- Our university has a long history of cooperation with the metallurgical giant of Ukraine. Our university can train specialists in more than 20 specialties for ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih: miners, metallurgists, IT-specialists, mechanics, builders, surveyors, ecologists and others. We hope that together with the enterprise we will be able to increase the prestige of professions in the mining and metallurgical industry.

- Over the past few years, our partnership with educational institutions that train workers has significantly strengthened. ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih needs qualified specialists with new knowledge and skills, ready to develop in an international company. We understand that in order to make Kryvbas a more attractive region for employment in the long term, it is important not only to improve the quality of education here, to improve working conditions, but also to create a good social infrastructure for young people in the city. Our company is interested in such development, therefore, as before, it is ready for effective cooperation.
