Acting Chairman of the State Energy Efficiency of Ukraine Konstantin Gura, Director of the Representative Office of the State Innovative Financial and Credit Institution (SIFCU) in Lviv Andriy Borys and Director of the Hungarian company Triosan Holding Alexander Kuntsiv discussed the prospects for the development of geothermal energy in Ukraine.
As you know, there are geothermal energy resources in Ukraine. In particular, the western regions are promising for this type of activity. This is also confirmed by research carried out by the National Energy Agency of Iceland.
“Despite progress in the implementation of green projects over the past few years, the development of geothermal energy requires special attention. Therefore, we value the experience and investments of the EU countries, incl. Hungary in this area, ”said Konstantin Gura.
During the meeting, the parties paid special attention to the legislative framework for the implementation of projects in geothermal energy in Ukraine. Investors who plan to work in this area will be able to sell "clean" energy either at a "green" tariff until 2030, or at a price determined at "green" auctions for a period of 20 years.
Following the meeting, a trilateral Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation was signed between the State Energy Efficiency Agency, SIFKU and the Hungarian company Triosan Holding.
In accordance with the Memorandum, the parties will cooperate and exchange information on the implementation of innovative approaches to the production of electricity and heat from geothermal sources.
The parties will also work on the analysis and improvement of legislation, help to improve the investment attractiveness of these sectors and the development of joint projects.
