ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih began the second stage of production modernization and laid the foundation stone for the construction of a new pelletizing plant. Investment in the construction of a new sinter plant exceeds $ 250 million.
“This new pelletizing plant and reconstruction of the 2nd sinter shop is a very important step in the transformation of the metallurgy of Ukraine into a“ green metallurgy ”. In fact, we are discussing with all enterprises in the industry how to make it “green”, ecological, less harmful for our residents, ”said the chairman of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional State Administration Oleksandr Bondarenko.
Deputy General Director for Production of the Mining Department of ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih Volodymyr Teslyuk told about the new facility.
“After we receive our first iron ore pellet, we will actually close our old sinter plant - a mech shop, where there are 5 machines, we will close sinter plant No. 1, this is 6 machines, by that time we will complete the reconstruction of the blast furnace. All these projects will allow us to reduce our emissions into the atmosphere by 78 thousand tons per year, ”Teslyuk said.
According to him, it will be a modern sinter plant. A contract has already been signed with the Chinese company Sinosteel, and by the end of the fourth quarter of 2023 the construction of the facility should be completed.
It is assumed that the new sinter plant will produce 5 million tons of pellets per year, capacity per hour - 621 tons, new gas cleaning equipment and aspiration will be installed in accordance with European environmental standards.
