Hyundai and Ineos to collaborate on hydrogen vehicles

One of the largest chemical companies in the world, Ineos announced on Sunday, November 22nd, it had signed a cooperation agreement with South Korean car manufacturer Hyundai.

As part of the agreement, the parties will study the option of a possible supply of Hyundai fuel systems for the Ineos Grenadier SUV. The car was originally designed with internal combustion engines and is due to hit the market in 2022. However, plans by the UK government to discontinue diesel and gasoline vehicles as soon as possible have prompted Ineos to consider a hydrogen-powered model. As a result, the choice fell on Hyundai power plants, which are already used on cars of the Korean concern NEXO SUV - the world's first commercial vehicle equipped with a hydrogen engine.

The parties intend to "jointly explore the possibility of producing and supplying hydrogen, as well as introducing technologies and products related to hydrogen," the press release says. As part of the initiative, companies are ready to support all kinds of public and private projects to develop the market for hydrogen-powered cars in Europe.
