The National Bank of Ukraine will auction scrap of withdrawn from circulation coins with denominations of 1, 2, 5, 10, 25, 50 kopecks with a total weight of about 45.8 tons. This amount was accumulated for 2020 - 2021 in connection with the withdrawal of small denominations from circulation.
A similar auction of scrap recycled coins will be held for the fourth time.
Recall that worn-out coins and coins, in respect of which the National Bank has made a decision to withdraw them from circulation (in denominations of 1, 2, 5 and 25 kopecks), are disposed of by the National Bank as they accumulate.
Disposal of coins takes place at the NBU Mint by destroying motifs on them on special equipment, and scrap is alienated during auctions (mainly metal is melted down).
The next auction will take place on May 21, 2021 in electronic format on the site zakupki.prom.ua.
