The system will monitor the air quality in real time, in particular the presence and concentration of pollutants in the ambient air - the content of carbon monoxide CO, ammonia NH, nitrogen dioxide NO.
According to Mikhail Zabluda, Chairman of the Management Board of PJSC Pivneazot, the decision to install an automated system of environmental monitoring of the air condition is related to the emergency situation at Rivneazot that occurred on July 20, 2021.
He stressed that Ostchem holding there is already practical experience in building such systems. Earlier, an online monitoring system was installed at Stirol.
Now the specialists of Rivneazot have begun preparatory work for the installation of the new system and are developing all the necessary documentation for choosing a contractor.
The project will be carried out in several stages: holding an international tender and choosing a contractor, concluding a contract with a contractor, developing a project, installing and launching sensors, organizing automatic analysis and transferring data to the company's website, certification. According to preliminary calculations, the implementation of the entire project will take about 10 months. The installation of the monitoring system and certification is expected to be completed by the spring of 2022.
A laboratory is currently operating at PpAT "Rivneazot", which constantly monitors the state of the environment. Twice a day, monitoring and control of the state of wastewater from the industrial site is carried out, and also three times a month, control of wastewater is carried out. Analyzes are carried out to determine the level of pH, nitrate, nitrite, sulfate, phosphate, ammonium ions, metals. According to the control schedule approved by the chief engineer, daily monitoring of the air condition of the working area is carried out, air control is carried out three times a week within the sanitary protection and residential area. The daily monitoring of the state of atmospheric air at the site of the enterprise is carried out. In this case, in particular, analyzes are carried out for the content of gases such as ammonia, nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide. On the day of a production failure at PJSC "Rivneazot" the laboratory was working around the clock, all samples showed the level of nitrous gas in the air 3 times lower than the permissible level.
As previously reported, at all enterprises of the Ostchem holding, additional technical inspections of the safety of the operation of all key workshops, thorough diagnostics of all pipelines and equipment were carried out. There was also an additional safety briefing for personnel and additional training.
