Rakityansky Rebar Plant (RAZ), part of the mainline engineering division of the Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK), designed and manufactured a horizontal bending press with a maximum force of 4.5 tons for its own production of parts for support and suspension systems (OPS) pipelines.
The bending press is designed for the production of clamps, half-clamps, inserts, staples and other elements, while in addition to the main parts of the OPS it can be used for pressure treatment of non-standard parts such as small cones. The equipment is designed in such a way that it can be quickly reconfigured to expand the product range.
The precision of the press bending is ensured by a universal adjustable stop-limiter and adjustable stops built into the tooling. The product was manufactured in a short time — the process from design to production of the finished equipment took 1.5 months.
"The creation of unique equipment in record time is an indicator of the high engineering potential and involvement of the Rakityansky Rebar Plant team. The initiative is aimed at improving the company's operational efficiency, as we gain full control over the process with our own equipment. This makes it possible to reduce order fulfillment times, adapt the installation to specific needs and strengthen the competitiveness of the enterprise," says Evgeny Gubanov, Managing Director of TMK's Mainline engineering division.
The horizontal bending press, unlike the existing vertical hydraulic ones, has a number of key advantages. It allows you to process a wide range of parts, use tooling — matrices — of non-standard sizes, is more convenient to operate due to horizontal loading and unloading, and is highly efficient when processing thin-walled parts.
