TMK held the first meeting of the Expert Council of Non-destructive Testing

The Pipe Metallurgical Company (TMK) held the first meeting of the Expert Council of Non-destructive Testing on the basis of the Seversky Pipe Plant (STZ), a branch of TMK. The Council is intended to become a key link in ensuring product quality and improving non-destructive testing technologies at all the company's enterprises.

The advisory body included the heads and specialists of TMK's non—destructive testing and product quality analysis departments, the STZ industrial automation site, as well as representatives of TMK Techservice, the company's single plant maintenance operator. The Board is headed by Vyacheslav Gagarinov, TMK's Deputy General Director for Quality.

On the first day of work, the participants visited modern high-tech nondestructive testing sites equipped with the latest domestic production facilities and allowing effective detection of various types of defects on pipes and couplings up to the highest strength groups. Flaw detection specialists of the 6th category, the highest qualification in the company, work at the sites.

The second day of the meeting was devoted to the exchange of experience and the development of proposals on key areas of work. Experts presented reports on improving product quality, improving non-destructive testing technologies, using artificial intelligence in product control, and improving the quality of repairs and equipment settings. Among the proposals are the development and implementation of the unified "10 flaw detection rules", as well as the formation of a digital database of defects. Special attention was paid to TMK Techservice's best practices in equipment maintenance.

"The creation of the Expert Council was the next step in the implementation of TMK's strategy to ensure high quality standards. It includes specialists from all departments who directly influence this indicator and can develop common solutions to bring it to a new level. The results of the Council's work will allow us to finalize a strategy for the development of non-destructive testing, which will take into account the specifics of all the company's production facilities and new customer requirements. The document will pay great attention to working with staff and professional competencies of specialists," Vyacheslav Gagarinov said.

TMK enterprises have created a modern infrastructure and use advanced quality control methods, including digital solutions. The Nondestructive Testing Council will promote the unification of approaches, the exchange of best practices and the introduction of modern solutions.
