Responding to a request from the industry, ESAB has released a new product, the WAT1 welding tractor, which solves exactly these tasks.
Responding to industrial demands
The new model has several advantages that improve the quality of work and overall productivity. The WAT1 welding tractor transfers the execution of long seams from manual mode to a mechanized process. The operator sets and controls the parameters, and the device ensures uniform movement along the joint. Such a system improves the quality of work and reduces the influence of the human factor. As a result, the welding site becomes more predictable for serial or large-scale production.
The WAT1 welding tractor for automatic submerged arc welding is in demand in heavy machinery and in the manufacture of large metal structures: tanks, beams, bridges, sheet structures with long rectilinear butt and angular seams. The model is designed for submerged welding with a single wire and shows excellent results both when working with low-carbon and low-alloy, as well as corrosion-resistant steels. The main types of joints are butt and corner seams, the recommended wire range is from 2.5 to 5.0 mm.
Compared to manual welding, the mechanized process benefits in several ways. The average speed of manual welding with a melting electrode in a protective gas environment is about 30 cm/min, while the welder needs to stop and change position. Submerged welding increases the speed and gives a higher surfacing coefficient: the overall productivity can be up to 2.5 times higher.
Speed and quality
One of the key advantages of the WAT1 tractor is the PEK control unit. It provides accurate and easy setting of welding parameters, control of movement speed, wire feed and voltage, and helps maintain the stability of the welding process. The interface in Russian makes working with the equipment convenient for operators, and 255 memory cells allow you to save frequently used modes and reduce the preparation time for welding.
