NLMK Group, an international metallurgical company, announces the launch of the third phase of the annual Steel Tree grant program, which is aimed at projects to protect the environment, landscaping and improve the quality of life. In 2019, targeted grants will be available to employees of the company in all major regions of presence in Russia.
The program was launched in 2017 and allowed NLMK employees, with the financial support of a social partner, the Charity Fund "Mercy", to implement more than ten socially useful environmental projects. In 2018, employees of Stoilensky GOK (Belgorod Region) and Altai-Koksa (Altai Territory) joined the program. From now on, employees of NLMK-Kaluga (Kaluga Region), NLMK-Ural and VIZ-Stal (Sverdlovsk Region) will also be able to receive grants.
The participants in the program of past years have had dozens of socially significant projects that you can familiarize yourself with on the program page of the Mercy Foundation website or on the program's YouTube channel.
To participate in the competition, grant applicants can submit an application with a description of the project to [email protected] until June 1. After that, free project management training will be organized for applicants, they will also receive assistance in designing their idea. The competition committee consisting of representatives of the foundation, enterprises and local administrations will select the authors of the best socially significant initiatives, who will receive grants of up to 300 thousand rubles and organizational support for the implementation of ideas.

Over the two years of the “Steel Tree” program in Lipetsk, Zarinsk and Stary Oskol, activists have completed 33 socially significant projects. Over 5,000 people took part in them. With the support of the program, activists cleaned public areas of garbage, renovated public gardens and city parks, planted trees, installed interactive bins for separate waste collection, created playgrounds for sports, creativity and environmental research, and erected symbolic art objects. Medical equipment was purchased for the Lipetsk Regional Narcological Dispensary, which helps early diagnosis of drug addiction in adolescents.
