PAO Severstal, one of the world's largest vertically integrated steel and mining companies, participates in the GreenTech Startup Booster, an accelerator for environmental projects. The project was organized by the Skolkovo Foundation with the support of the Ministry of Natural Resources and Environment of the Russian Federation and the participation of domestic and international corporations.
The ecological program GreeTech Startup Booster is aimed at finding and introducing innovative solutions in the field of ecology, safety in production and sustainable development. The program is intended for companies that have developments in readiness from a prototype to industrial production. The subject of solutions is tied to the main tasks of the Russian industry in the field of ecology and sustainable development, both in terms of current challenges and the tasks of future development: reducing the carbon footprint and greenhouse gas emissions, increasing the efficiency of water and air treatment facilities, waste disposal, etc.
Severstal enterprises pay great attention to environmental projects in all regions of the company's presence: we control and are responsible for the level of emissions at all stages of raw materials extraction and production. In 2019, the company's investments in environmental projects amounted to about 750 million rubles. In the first half of 2020, the company has already invested 1.34 billion rubles in environmental activities. Participation in the GreeTech Startup Booster reflects our demand for innovation in the field of reducing industrial environmental impact. The project is designed for 500 tech startups, 30 best of them will make it to the finals. The finalists will be offered to conduct an acceleration program to support pilot tests and implementation, or to independently pilot projects at the sites of industrial partners. The winners of the GreenTech Startup Booster will be able to obtain the status of a Skolkovo participant with the opportunity to receive a 5 millionth grant for the implementation of a pilot project.

Russian companies SIBUR, NLMK, Tatneft, Gazpromneft, Helyx, T-Plus and foreign leaders in shaping the environmental agenda - ENEL, EDF, TOTAL - also confirmed their participation in the program. The scientific partners of the accelerator are MISiS, the Russian State University of Oil and Gas named after I.M. Gubkin, Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, the D.I. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology, LGTU, MPEI, UGNTU.
