Kolchuginsky "Elektrokabel" (part of the "Cable Alliance Holding", which unites the cable assets of UMMC) mastered the production of power and control cables of increased fire resistance, which are in demand in petrochemistry, metallurgy, mechanical engineering aircraft and shipbuilding.
Products of the Kolchuga trademark have insulation and a shell made of a polymer composition based on high molecular weight methylvinylsiloxane rubber (silicone rubber). They are able to maintain equipment operability in case of fire for 4 hours (for most fire-resistant cables this figure does not exceed 3 hours).
When exposed to fire, silicone rubber turns into a protective ceramic layer. Thanks to it, the conductive cores of the cable do not touch, therefore, the risk of a short circuit is excluded. In addition, the material has low smoke and gas emission during combustion. Combustion products do not contain chlorine compounds, which reduces the risks to humans and computers.
“We test the finished cable in accordance with the requirements of GOST. After removing the burner, the flame goes out, there are no traces of soot on the surface of the cable, there is no charring or areas damaged by fire, that is, there is a non-propagation of combustion, self-extinguishing, "explained Natalya Tarakanova, head of the EKZ Test Center.
К The advantages of the new cable can also be attributed to its increased flexibility, which is provided by the multi-wire core (5th class of flexibility). In addition, cables with insulation and sheath made of high molecular weight rubber have such properties as heat resistance, frost resistance, ozone and radio resistance, and solvent resistance. The operating temperature for these products varies from minus 60 to plus 130 degrees, while the long-term permissible heating temperature of the conductor can reach 155 degrees.
