Metalloinvest, a leading manufacturer and supplier of iron ore products and hot briquetted iron in the world market, one of the regional producers of high quality steel, will build a new electric arc steelmaking furnace (DSP-5) and a complex steel processing unit (AKOS-4) at the Oskol electrometallurgical plant named after A.A. Ugarov.
Danieli, a leading Italian manufacturer of equipment for the metallurgical industry, will be the supplier of the main process equipment and services.
The project agreement was signed at OEMK by the CEO of Metalloinvest Nazim Efendiev and Danieli Russia President Antonello Colussi.
The signing ceremony was attended by Danieli Chairman of the Management Board Gianpietro Benedetti, Danieli CEO Giacomo Marescchi, President of the Friuli-Venezia Autonomous Region Giulia Massimiliano Fedriga, Acting Governor of the Belgorod Region Vyacheslav Gladkov and Head of Administration Starooskolsky urban district Alexander Sergienko.
Commissioning of DSP-5 is scheduled for 2023, AKOS-4 - for 2024.
The Company's investments in the project will amount to about 6.4 billion rubles. The plant will create up to 30 new jobs.
The productivity of EAF-5 will be 1.2 million tons of liquid steel per year, AKOS-4 - 1.3 million tons per year.

Steel smelting in EAF-5 will be made entirely from metallized pellets, which will lead to a decrease in harmful impurities. Working with liquid metal residue will minimize the ingress of furnace slag into the ladle with metal, which will reduce the amount of non-metallic inclusions in steel. The specific consumption of electricity and furnace electrodes will be reduced. Within the framework of the project, the electric arc steelmaking furnace No. 2 will be decommissioned and an AKOS-4 will be built in its place.
AKOS allows to reduce the duration of melting in the main unit - an arc steelmaking furnace, as well as to improve the quality of the metal.
Processing in AKOS is necessary for the production of high-quality assortment grades - special steels (SBQ), intended for the automotive, bearing industry and other industries.
