PJSC Severstal will support the screenings of the play "Glory" at the Bolshoi Drama Theater. G. A. Tovstonogova (BDT) within the framework of the Golden Mask festival.
On September 4 and 5, on the stage of the Musical Theater of the Republic of Karelia, a “play about good people” will take place - this is how the genre of the play “Glory” is defined by its director Konstantin Bogomolov. The production was based on a play written by one of the most popular poets of his time, translator, playwright, screenwriter (including the film "The Pig and the Shepherd") Viktor Gusev in 1935. The premiere of "Glory" directed by Sergei Morshchin took place on the stage of the BDT on May 21, 1936 and for several years was considered the most popular production.
"Glory" is a poetic play about two engineers, each of whom makes a moral choice. The idea of the director Konstantin Bogomolov is not to draw directly the horrors of Stalinism, but to reproduce such a Soviet "La La Land", a Stalinist musical, and see how the viewer will react to it. The performance entered the Log List of the 2020 Golden Mask festival and became a participant in the Mask Plus out-of-competition program. “Severstal has been supporting the holding of the Golden Mask in Karelia since 2015; over the years, the Festival has become a part of the calendar of all local art lovers. Unfortunately, last year the pandemic made adjustments, and we are glad that now cultural life is gradually reviving. In the current difficult conditions, it is very important for us to continue to support the best performances of the Festival and show them on the territory of the company's presence: in Cherepovets, Petrozavodsk, Kostomuksha and towns of Latvia, ”commented Natalia Poppel, Advisor to the General Director of Severstal on sustainable development.
