A forklift is a versatile warehouse equipment. The machine is equipped with functional forks and is suitable for solving a wide range of tasks. It is the forks that determine the possibility of using a loader for unloading, loading, moving goods, lifting and storing them.
The machine moves independently, can be used on street sites and closed warehouses. Given its size, it will be an indispensable assistant for solving production problems. The structure includes the chassis, motor, brake system, battery, tires, control circuit. The engine can run on gas, gasoline, diesel, electricity.
Safety rules
A forklift is a serious industrial category equipment that requires competent, adequate handling and following safety precautions. An irresponsible approach to carrying out work is fraught with damage to equipment, cargo, and the creation of threats to life for employees and the operator.
Only specialists who have undergone appropriate training are allowed to perform work. If you have not completed the courses of operators, you should not start - it is very dangerous. Before starting work, put on a special uniform. The minimum list includes hard reliable boots, a helmet, goggles, gloves and a vest with reflective inserts. If the room is very noisy, special suppressive headphones are needed. The equipment can be purchased at a specialized store.
At the beginning of each shift, the loader is carefully inspected; it is strictly forbidden to start a work shift on a damaged vehicle. You need to make sure that:
- Correct fork grip in in perfect order, free of defects.
- Mast, carriage are not damaged.
- The hydraulic high-pressure hose system is in good condition, it works without failures.
- The battery charge is sufficient.
- Oil level, fuel optimal.
- Beacons, headlights working.
- Tires intact, no punctures.
Ignoring a basic inspection creates risks for the health of the operator and warehouse staff. For example, forklift tires can run flat and require regular inflation, get damaged and need repair, replacement. These are not difficult works, but ignoring them leads to serious negative consequences.
The forks must be placed at a height of about 100 mm above the floor during movement. Choose not the maximum and safe speed, forget about the habit of stopping abruptly. Raise and lower loads carefully, slowly.
Parking should be in normally lit places. In no case do not lift people on the forks and do not bring up "passengers". It is dangerous to operate hydraulic devices outside the operator's cab. To troubleshoot, you should involve certified craftsmen; it is not safe to perform operations on your own. When parking, do not block fire exits.
