According to data published by Worldsteel, Russia produced 5.5 million tons of steel in July 2022, down 13.2% year-on-year. Turkey produced 2.7 million tons of steel, which is 20.7% less.
The association's report indicates that Russia and other CIS countries + Ukraine produced a total of 6.4 million tons of steel, which is 29.1% less than in July last year.
Total for July, the global production of crude steel in 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association amounted to 149.3 million tons, which is 6.5% less than in July 2021.
Asia and Oceania produced 110.1 million tons of steel, reducing production by 5.2% year-on-year, Africa produced 1.2 million tons in July 2022, which is 5.4% less than in July 2021 of the year. Steel production in Europe amounted to 15.2 million tonnes, down 6.7% in the EU and 16.5% in the rest of Europe. The Middle East produced 3.2 million tons, up 24.2%. North America produced 9.6 million tons, down 5.4%. South America produced 3.6 million tons of steel, down 7.8% from July 2021.
