World steel production grew by 15.2% in March in annual comparison

World crude steel production for 64 countries reporting to the World Steel Association (worldsteel) was 169.2 million tonnes in March 2021, up 15.2% from March 2020.

Global steel production in the first three months of 2021 was 486.9 million tonnes, up 10.0% over the same period in 2020.

Asia and Oceania produced 356.9 million tonnes of steel in the first quarter of 2021, which is 13.2% more than in the first quarter of 2020.

The EU (27) produced 37.8 million tonnes of steel in the first quarter of 2021, an increase of 3.1% over the same quarter of 2020.

North American steel production in the first three months of 2021 was 28.1 million tonnes, down 5.2% from the first quarter of 2020.

In the first quarter of 2021, the CIS produced 26.2 million tons of steel, which is 3.1% more than in the first quarter of 2020.
