January 21, Beijing. China's state-owned metallurgical associations exported 5.8 million tons of aluminum in 2018, an increase of 20.9 percent from last year, according to the Chinese customs service. This figure has become a record in the history of the industry.
In December, the volume of foreign trade in this industry amounted to 527 thousand tons. This is slightly less than November, but 19.8 percent more than in the same month last year.
Experts from China attribute this growth to the good conditions prevailing in the global market in 2018. First, Chinese companies have benefited from the US sanctions they imposed on the Russian group Rusal. Second, prices for aluminum outside China were significantly higher for almost the entire year than domestically.
