Once the new energy projects come online, Jammu and Kashmir's demand for electricity will be greatly improved and the surplus energy will be exported.

India is building a hydropower center with a capacity of 6,000 MW of electricity per year

The Kishtwar region will become the main energy center of Northern India, which will produce about 6,000 MW of electricity. Excess electricity from Kishtwar will be sold to other states. This is reported by The Kashmir Monitor.

Pakal Dul HE (1000 MW) is under active construction after the river has been diverted. The project will generate 3,230 MW per year and is expected to be completed by July 2025. The Kiru HE project (624 MW) is also actively under construction. The diversion of the river was recently carried out, and once commissioned, the plant will generate 2,272 MW per year. The project is expected to be completed by July 2025.

Work on the Kwar Hydro Electric (40 MW) project began in 2022 and the project will generate 1975 MW per year, with completion scheduled for November 2026.

The Ratle HE (850 MW) project is being built in a similar way, work began with the conclusion of an EPC contract in January 2022. The planned commissioning date is February 10, 2026. After commissioning, 3,136 MW will be generated annually. The Kirthai-II HE (930 MW) project is under study and will generate 3329.52 MW per year once commissioned.

Once all of the above projects come online, Jammu and Kashmir's electricity demand will be significantly improved, helping to achieve the goal of zero carbon emissions.
