Steel production in China rose in the first decade of January

In the first 10 days of January 2023, 1.93 million tons of steel were smelted in China, which is half a percent more than in the first ten days of December 2022.

In the first ten days of January, average daily crude steel production at China's largest steel mills rose by 0.51% m/m to 1.93 million tons, data from the China Iron and Steel Industry Association show.

During this period average daily production of iron and rolled steel decreased by 0.4 and 8.68 percent, respectively.

Industrial capacity utilization in China in the 4th quarter of 2022 decreased by 1.7 percentage points year on year to 75 .7%, according to the data of the State Bureau of Statistics of the PRC.

At the same time, compared to the previous quarter, the indicator increased by 0.1 percentage points.
