Chinese steelmaking equipment passed "field " test

The modernized CCM1 twin-strand casting machine from the Chinese company Angang Iron & Steel Group Co. has received the Final Acceptance Certificate (FAC). The equipment started production in October 2018. In less than two months, more than 1,700 heats with a volume of 348 thousand tons were carried out.

The project set itself the goal of improving quality and increasing the productivity of production. In addition, the specialists sought to increase the flexibility of various steel grades and molds.

To improve the mechanical properties of the slabs, modern equipment has been used and the technological process has been constantly improved. Of particular importance to the company was the rapid introduction of modernized equipment to minimize mill downtime.

Angang Iron & Steel Group Co produces about 35.8 million tonnes of steel. Anshan Steel Works in Liaoning Province is one of the leading steel producers in China.

The CCM2 continuous production machine was successfully upgraded in 2015 by Primetals Technologies and has been operating smoothly ever since.

During the modernization of CCM1, the metal casting mechanism with LevCon molding level control was replaced, the Mold Expert tear-off detection system was improved, DynaWidth was used with automatic width adjustment, and the DynaFlex secondary cooling system was installed, which tracks temperature changes along the entire chain.
