South Korean prosecutors asked the court to issue a warrant for the arrest of Vice-President of Samsung Electronics and the actual head of Samsung Group Lee Jae-Yong. About it reports Yonhap.
South Korean prosecutors suspect the top managers of Samsung's involvement in the transfer of control Corporation Lee Jae-ENU from his father and formal leader Lee gon-Hee, which in 2014 is bedridden and does not appear in public. Prosecutors believe that Cheil Industries, the holder of the largest stake of which was Lee Jae-Yong, purchased Samsung C&T, which actually is the parent company Samsung Group, underestimating the value of its shares. This, according to prosecutors, after the merger has allowed Lee Jae-ENU to take over the conglomerate.
Lee Jae-Yong was one of the defendants in the corruption scandal involving former South Korean President Park Geun-Hye, who broke in 2016. According to investigators, a close friend of the former head of state, Choi sung-SIL, using his friendship with the South Korean leader who was extorting money from large corporations, including Samsung and Lotte. Park Geun-Hye was declared the impeachment at the end of 2016, in April the following year she was charged. Choi sung-SIL in February 2018, was sentenced to 20 years in prison. The former President received a total of 25 years in prison and a fine of 17.8 million dollars for divulging state secrets, extortion, abuse of power and accepting bribes.
In turn, Lee Jae-Yong in 2017, was sentenced to five years in prison on charges of giving bribes to companies associated with the Park Geun-Hye. The prosecution believed that the Vice-President of Samsung gave them horses with a total value of $ 3 million to obtain approval for the merger of Samsung C&T Cheil Industries. However, a year later, Lee Jae-Yong was released after appeal. Last year the Supreme court sent the case back of the actual head of Samsung back to a lower court for reconsideration.
