India may impose an anti-dumping duty of up to $ 3263 per tonne on tool steel imports from Brazil, China and Germany for a period of five years, according to a government notice on Friday.
The Commerce Department's Investigation Unit has recommended the introduction of the duty following the completion of an investigation into the supply of high speed steel imported from the three countries.
Investigators concluded that the product was exported to India from these countries below its normal value, resulting in dumping.
The Indian industry suffered material damage, according to the Directorate General's Defense of Trade (DGTR) notice.
Anti-dumping investigation was carried out on the complaint of Graphite India Ltd.
The recommended duty is between $ 1,902.34 and $ 3,263.68 per tonne.
The final decision on the introduction of the duty will be made by the Ministry of Finance.
Research is a quasi-judicial process and is permitted under the rules of the World Trade Organization (WTO). India is a member of the WTO, which has been developing laws for world exports and imports since 1995.
Between April 2018 and March 2019, DGTR initiated 24 anti-dumping (both fresh and review) investigations and published final findings on 50 such cases.
