JSC "BMZ" and LLC "Zinkum" (part of USM Holding) signed a long-term contract for the supply of 500 thousand tons of dust from gas cleaning of electric steelmaking production of BMZ with the aim of its environmentally responsible disposal in the Kursk region and the involvement of the resulting processed products in the circular economy .
Zincum is one of the projects of the new Urban Mining direction in USM Holding for the production of zinc oxide from secondary sources. Starting from the 2nd half of 2024, the Zincum plant under construction will annually process over 100 thousand tons of gas cleaning dust from electric steel-smelting plants in Russia and other countries of the Eurasian Economic Union.
As a representative of BMZ noted, the fundamental value of BMZ is the constant reduction of environmental impact in the course of production activities and transportation of products. The supply of accumulated and generated dust in sealed soft containers (“big bags”) for processing emphasizes the environmental responsibility of BMZ.
According to Pavel Mitrofanov, General Director of Tsinkum LLC, “the Tsinkum project is an environmentally friendly dust processing based on the principle of waste-free production. Cooperation with BMZ is an example of effective cooperation in the field of processing waste from metallurgical production.”
