Belarusian steel plant to operate at full capacity from February

Belarus

The closure of the European market for Belarus, according to the company's management, is a good incentive to search for markets within the country. As a result, sales volumes in domestic markets have increased markedly.

“For 2023, we set serious targets for improving productivity. Starting from February, the full load of steelmaking production is planned,” said Sergey Terletsky, Deputy General Director for Technology and Quality of BMZ, at a meeting with the CPL team.

Terletsky noted that 2022 was not an easy year for the Belarusian metallurgical plant. At the same time, he gave the BMZ employees the opportunity to use such qualities as resourcefulness and creativity in their work. And although at the end of the year the plant has small economic losses, but in general, BMZ works stably.

“Spring was very difficult for BMZ production. Nevertheless, we have found new markets and acquired reliable partners. We began to produce new products and, importantly, did not stop research. We have smelted more than 2 million tons of steel,” said Terletsky.

He also stressed that BMZ worked without losses and with positive profitability in 2022.

At the moment, hardware production suffers the most. The BMZ management is trying to find a way out of this situation. One of the options is to retrain workers of steel wire shops to other professions that are in demand. This method has already been successfully applied in practice.
