Earlier this week, a new hot blast furnace # 47 gas regenerator housing was installed for blast furnace # 4 at SSAB's Oxelösund plant in Sweden. The entire hull was completely fabricated off-site and set in working position with a single crane lift.
This is the first time Danieli has applied such a manufacturing solution to a blast furnace.
The installation was successful thanks to careful planning and a study with SSAB of the aboveground and underground infrastructure in the blast furnace area.
The applied innovative technology will pay off very quickly: all welding, coating and rigorous testing in the off-site workshop minimizes the amount of work performed on site, in more difficult conditions and in compliance with all factory regulations, and thus saves a significant amount of working hours.
This strategy provides greater efficiency in terms of supervision and logistics. The installation of hot blast furnace # 47 will now be completed with maximum efficiency.
