The metallurgical company plans to expand the range of high-strength galvanized steels by increasing the size of the strip and reducing the thickness of rolled products. Stainless steel products provide the best performance with minimum weight.

Voestalpine invests 100 million euros in the reconstruction of the hot-dip galvanizing lines in Linz

The largest steel company in Austria intends to significantly increase the production of high-strength zinc-coated cold-rolled steel in the future. Voestalpine will invest almost 100 million euros over the next few years to expand the hot dip galvanizing lines at the Linz plant.

As noted in the press service of the company, the investment will further improve the quality of production of galvanized and uncoated cold-rolled strip.

Construction work will begin in August, and the technological start-up is scheduled for 2025/26. This will allow the site to significantly increase the production of ultra-high-strength steels.

The expansion of the line is a key factor in the strategy of the steel division of the Voestalpine Group. The investment in the line will allow in the future to produce all major steel grades, which are mainly used in the premium automotive industry and must meet the most stringent quality requirements.

It is expected that the modernization of all hot-dip galvanizing lines will be completed in 2027.
