Spain's ArcelorMittal is building a new distribution center at its former beam manufacturing plant in Villaverde, Madrid, according to[b]Kallanish[/b]. The facility is intended to become a strategic logistics center specializing in steel distribution, long products processing and steel recycling.
The new facilities will cover a total area of 26,300 m2, of which 20,000 m2 will be under the roof, which will combine services that were previously provided at ArcelorMittal Offices in Getafa and Coslada in Madrid.
"The opportunity to offer new services in Villaverde will allow us to adequately meet the demand for steel products in the Madrid region and surrounding provinces," ArcelorMittal Distribution Iberia said in a statement.
The new center will be equipped with four saws for cutting long products, two saws with the possibility of drilling, an oxygen cutting table and a new shot blasting and painting unit. According to the company, thanks to these additions, the Madrid center will become one of the most advanced long products processing plants in the region.
The industrial warehouse is being built using ArcelorMittal's XCarb steel. More than 1,300 m2 of solar panels with a capacity of 300 MWh will be installed on the roof, as well as charging stations for both commercial and commercial electric vehicles.
The commissioning of the new facility is scheduled for the first quarter of 2026.
In 2012, ArcelorMittal closed production at the Villaverde plant, later converting it into a scrap metal procurement point and a metal products processing and distribution center.
