Norwegian company Bauta Metal has officially opened its upgraded steel cutting and storage facility in Vestnes, Mere og Romsdal, on the west coast of Norway.
Located between the cities of Molde and Aalesund, the plant is at the center of the Norwegian maritime cluster and the shipbuilding industry, Kallanish understands. According to representatives of Bauta Metals, due to the deep-water berth and direct access to the main highways of the region, this location provides customers with significant logistical advantages. The company acquired this website in 2024 and claims that it has since updated it to the most modern standards.
The 3,200-square-meter production workshop is equipped with cranes and modern equipment for shot blasting and priming. It is equipped with a plasma cutter with two cutting robots and a 3.6 x 34 meter cutting table capable of processing sheets up to 300 mm thick. It is equipped with Norway's only 5-axis fiber laser designed for processing wafers up to 2000 x 6000 mm in size. The plant is also equipped with industrial saws for cutting pipes and profiles.
In addition, there is a 2,000 square meter aluminum and stainless steel warehouse, as well as 20,000 square meters of outdoor storage space.
Bauta Metal is a new line of business within the larger Norwegian conglomerate Bauta Group, which is engaged in construction, fish farming and more. In this regard, it notes that the grand opening included a symbolic moment - the cutting of the first steel billet for the closed Varig fish tank, developed by Bauta Fishfarms.
