Rebar prices in the Polish domestic market rose in the week to Friday, September 18, as manufacturers continued to insist on price increases due to rising production costs.
"There is a lot of cost pressure at the plants. Energy prices are very high. Compared to a month ago, they have doubled," a source in the distribution network said.
Rising oil and energy prices continued to support higher supply, and some businesses adjusted their work schedules depending on the cost of electricity.
It is estimated that domestic fittings were sold at 2770-2800 zlotys per ton, and the offers were also in this range. Acceptable price levels were fixed at around 2740-2800 zlotys per ton.
Fastmarkets' weekly estimate for steel rebar produced in Poland rose to 2740-2800 zlotys per tonne on Friday, compared with 2650-2680 zlotys per tonne a week earlier.
In the wire rod segment, the levels of 2900-3100 zlotys per ton with delivery were announced. At the same time, Fastmarkets' weekly estimate for domestic wire rod of drawing quality supplied from Poland remained unchanged at 2900-3100 zlotys per ton.
