American electric car manufacturer Tesla can receive state subsidies within the framework of its plan to open giant in Germany, said the Minister of economy in an interview with the weekly newspaper Welt am Sonntag.
"In conversations with (CEO of Tesla) Elon Musk, I always made it clear that no privilege and no discrimination," said Peter Altmaier.
the German Government has already allocated financial support for the production of batteries of electric vehicles in an attempt to resist the dominance of Asian companies. Until now it was unclear whether Tesla will get the same support.
Altmaier said that in order to qualify for government subsidies, companies need to fulfill certain requirements in the area of sustainability and efficient use of batteries.
"furthermore, Germany should strive for the better, to be more than an extended workbench. There needs to be research and development too. All companies that meet the criteria can receive support, including Tesla", - said the Minister.
