Bulgaria has agreed to a 40% reduction in the price of imported natural gas under long-term contract with Russia, the largest supplier of gas to Bulgaria, said on Tuesday Prime Minister Boyko Borisov.
the New price will take effect from Aug. The agreement was reached after Gazprom agreed to tie the price to such benchmarks as the quotes on the Western European gas hubs.
Bulgaria imports from Russia 2.9 billion cubic meters of gas per year under long-term contract valid until 2022.
From 1 January Bulgaria started poluchat gas from Russia with Turkey through the pipeline "Turkish stream", and not through Romania, as previously. Change point of delivery of fuel will allow Sofia to save more than EUR 40 million.
