Until now, the German railway operator cannot say when the movement of goods from the steel industry in North Rhine-Westphalia will be restored.

Deutsche Bahn estimates flood damage in Germany at 1.3 billion euros

Railway operator Deutsche Bahn said Friday that floods that hit western Germany last week damaged its network and train stations worth about € 1.3 billion.

According to the German state company, most of the damage is not covered by insurance.

It is unclear when rail freight for the steel industry in North Rhine-Westphalia will again become possible, the report said.

Recall that due to the traffic collapse caused by floods, Germany's largest steel producer Thyssenkrupp Steel announced force majeure on July 16 due to the impossibility of delivering raw materials and semi-finished products between production sites and finished products to customers due to damage to the railway network.
