US Steel has confirmed to Argus that it is investing in a new electrical steel production facility to be built at its Big River Steel metallurgical complex in Osceola, Arkansas.
There are no details about specific investments, along with the initial confirmation, deadlines and targets for capacity expansion were announced.
The investment is the latest in a series of investment projects that US Steel and Nippon Steel have jointly implemented in recent weeks as part of the companies' $11 billion multi-year investment plan.
The details of the various projects were gradually revealed at different stages. Along with a series of plant upgrades, expansion of pig iron production with direct reduction and slag processing, the companies also committed to invest in the production of high-quality steel products such as electrical steel to support US Steel's long-term position in the U.
