The Ferrexpo Group with assets in the Poltava region announced the suspension of operations due to disruptions in the healing of the mining and processing plant after a new Russian attack on the Ukrainian infrastructure for the production and transmission of electricity, which took place on the night of January 20.
"Until electricity supplies are stable and provided in appropriate volumes, it has been decided to temporarily suspend production and send some employees on vacation," the company said in a statement.
Ferrexpo added that the latest missile and drone attack by the Russian Federation did not damage the group's assets, and no deaths or injuries were reported among employees.
The company, specializing in the production of iron ore raw materials, has already stopped the work of mining plants due to problems with the supply of electricity after the massive Russian shelling on November 8.
Interim CEO of Ferrexpo Lucio Genovese, commenting on the company's results in 2025, called the last quarter one of the most difficult periods since the large-scale invasion of the Russian Federation in Ukraine, mainly due to increased missile and drone attacks on energy infrastructure, including in Poltava region.
Due to constant restrictions in the supply of electricity, Ferrexpo reduced the production of iron ore products in October-December 2025 by 29% compared to the previous quarter, to 1.07 million tons. By the end of 2025, the total volume of iron ore production decreased by 9% year-on-year, amounting to 6.14 million tons.
Recently, the capacity available to the company made it possible to operate only one of the four drilling lines.
