According to the Ukrainian Association of producers of ferro-alloys (Ukrainian Academy of pharmacy), in the 3rd quarter of 2019, Ukraine imported ore, mainly from Ghana, with 89% and Russia at 11%. Ghana remains a major importer of manganese ore in Ukraine. The share of imports from Russia of raw materials decreased.
In the 3rd quarter of 2019, Ukraine imported more than 375 thousand tons of manganese ore, more than 20% more than in the previous quarter of 2019 and by more than 50% more than in the 3rd quarter of 2018.
Irregular supply of manganese ore in different periods associated with uneven consumption of the relevant factories of raw materials, which serves as a compensator for poor quality of domestic ores containing phosphorus and moisture, reported in the Ukrainian Academy of pharmacy.
Prices for import manganese ore from Ghana in the 3rd quarter of 2019 fell slightly compared with the previous quarter and by the end of the quarter average dollar 5.17 US 1% manganese.
