American coal plants, quickly closed, despite the promise of trump on the support of the industry.

Coal mines in the United States can remain without work

According to the U.S. Federal government, obtained by Reuters, the us coal-fired power plant in 2019 closed at the fastest pace after a record 19 300 MW, closed in 2015 during the administration of President Barack Obama.

In 2019, the energy company, the US closed about 15 of 100 megawatts (MW) of electricity generated by coal-fired power plants, enough to power about 15 million homes.

In the past decade, the coal industry in the United States was in sharp decline due to competition from cheap natural gas and subsidized wind and solar energy, as well as the growing of public concern about coal's contribution to climate change.

Replacement of coal by natural gas and renewable energy will significantly reduce overall carbon emissions in the United States.

However, the President, Donald trump has ignored the threat of climate change and intended to revive the coal industry in the United States to fulfill obligations to the voters in such coal-producing regions like West Virginia and Wyoming, mainly by reducing the obligations of industry for the protection of the environment adopted during the reign of Barack Obama.

If this trend continues, the cadence of the trump in the US will close more coal power plants than under Obama - about 46 600 MW to 43 MW 100.

last week, Tri-State Generation and Transmission announced that it will accelerate the decommissioning of its two coal-fired power plants in Colorado and new Mexico, as both the state have set ambitious targets for reducing carbon emissions.

According to independent researcher Rhodium Group, in 2019, the emissions in the United States related to climate change, decreased by 2.1%, as the volume of production of electricity at coal-fuel fell by 18% to the lowest level since 1975.
