At least five people were killed on Saturday when a light plane crashed on takeoff near Lafayette regional airport in Louisiana. About it announced in the CNN citing a statement by the fire chief of Lafayette, Robert Benoit. Lafayette is located about 130 miles West of New Orleans.
One man survived a plane crash that occurred at 9:22 local time, said Benoit in a press conference. According to Benoit, the survivors were taken to hospital along with three people who were on the ground.
According to the National weather service of the USA, weather conditions in the regional airport Lafayette has been marked as vague for Saturday morning with a visibility of 0.75 miles. At 7:00 a.m. local time, the visibility was 0.25 miles, which meteorologists define as "thick fog."
