For the first time, the Volgograd Metallurgical Plant Krasny Oktyabr rolled a hot-rolled stainless steel circle with diameters of 40, 42 and 45 mm. The first orders have already been shipped to customers, the company said.
The development of medium-sized sizes will allow the plant to expand supplies for the machine-building, medical, chemical and food industries, as well as for metal service centers. Stainless rolled products are in demand where corrosion resistance, chemical resistance and non-toxicity are critically important. According to experts, the products have an optimal balance of strength, ductility and machinability.
The rolling modes were selected in test batches, taking into account the special properties of corrosion-resistant steel — increased viscosity and heat transfer. CEO Alexander Zhukov noted that the plant is increasing its integrated supply capabilities and finding new solutions for customers.
In the near future, the company plans to develop the production of round medium—grade rolled products made of stainless steel with diameters from 30 to 55 mm. The new items will complement the existing range of round rolled products (sizes from 58 to 350 mm) and will allow products to be shipped in a more complete range of standard sizes as part of a single order.
