China and Belarus today began negotiations on an agreement on trade in services and investments, the PRC Ministry of Commerce reported.
The parties have signed a joint statement by video link to start negotiations, the ministry said in a statement published online.
According to the statement, China and Belarus will negotiate relevant issues to reach a comprehensive high-level WTO-compliant agreement.
“The start of negotiations contributes not only to exploring opportunities for further expanding trade and exchange of investments, but also to creating a more transparent and convenient investment environment. It will also provide a new impetus for a comprehensive strategic partnership based on mutual trust and mutually beneficial cooperation between the two countries, ”the ministry said.
On May 5, 2020, the Ministry of Economy of Belarus and the Ministry of Commerce of the PRC signed a memorandum on a joint study of the feasibility of concluding an agreement on trade in services and investment between the countries.
