The Russian government has approved a plan of state support for projects in the field of artificial intelligence (AI), 5.26 billion rubles will be allocated for these purposes until 2024, the press service of the government said on Sunday. The rules for the provision of such subsidies were approved by the Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Mikhail Mishustin.
As stated in a message on the government's website, funds will be distributed based on the results of a competitive selection.
“Subsidies can be used for the purchase of software and equipment, payment for the services of programmers, rental of office space, maintenance of workplaces and other purposes. It is stated that the size of the grant per recipient should not exceed 100 million rubles, ”the government said.
In addition, the government plans to approve rules for subsidizing activities under which schoolchildren and students will develop their own AI projects.
"The best initiatives will receive expert and mentoring support, which, among other things, will allow teams to prepare their projects for market launch," the press service said.
The document also provides for financing services for specialized additional education, thanks to which thousands of Russians will be able to receive certificates for passing special training programs in AI.
The total amount of funding for this support measure for the period up to 2024 will amount to 1.23 billion rubles.
The government believes that the decisions made will help expand the practical application of AI, stimulate the digital transformation of the economy and become a driver of the country's socio-economic development.
