Electricity prices in Russia have reached their maximum value over the past five years, despite the decline in demand, follows from the review of the Market Council (regulator of energy markets). Moreover, this year it may rise in price even more.

In 2020, the one-part price of the wholesale market (includes the cost of electricity on the day-ahead market and the cost of capacity) in the European part of Russia and the Urals increased by 3.4%, to 2.54 thousand rubles. per 1 MW • h, and in Siberia - by 0.6%, to 1.78 thousand rubles. for 1 MW • h.

The main driver of growth was the mandatory non-market markups, which reached 558 billion rubles. This year, according to the forecast of the Market Council, the one-part wholesale price will increase by 5.6% (in the European part of the country and the Urals - by 3.8%, in Siberia - by 13.4%).
