A meeting of the Council for Sustainable Development was held in St. Petersburg under the leadership of Oleg Aksyutin, Deputy Chairman of the Management Committee - Head of the Gazprom Department, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), and Nikolai Kasimov, RAS Academician.
The meeting discussed the completed and promising joint research of Gazprom and the Russian Academy of Sciences on hydrogen energy. They are aimed at solving science-intensive problems in the field of hydrogen production in the most environmentally friendly and cost-effective way - from natural gas, as well as in the field of hydrogen transportation. In addition, the results of joint research will be taken into account when developing sustainable development scenarios for PJSC Gazprom until 2050.
The members of the Council for Sustainable Development noted the key role and significant potential of natural gas in the development of hydrogen "low-carbon" energy. Presentations at the meeting, in particular, were made by Vice President, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Valentin Parmon and Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Professor Anton Maksimov.
