Ferrous metals accounted for 20.5% of all Ukrainian export earnings in 2021

Ukraine increased foreign exchange earnings from the export of ferrous metals by 81.4%

In 2021, Ukraine increased the export of ferrous metals in monetary terms by 81.4%, according to the State Statistics Service.

According to the results of last year, deliveries of such products as iron ore raw materials, pig iron, semi-finished products and finished rolled products amounted to 13.95 billion US dollars. Ferrous metals accounted for 20.5% of all Ukrainian export earnings in 2021. Exports of products from ferrous metals, including pipes, metal structures, wires, etc., grew by 47.3% and amounted to 1.29 billion US dollars (1.9% of total exports).

In turn, the import of ferrous metals to Ukraine, according to the State Statistics Service, increased by 48.8% and amounted to 1.55 billion US dollars. This corresponds to 2.1% of Ukrainian imports over the past year.

Imports of ferrous metal products grew by 37.3% to $1.12 billion (1.5% of total imports).

In January 2022, revenues from the export of ferrous metals in Ukraine increased by 36.8% compared to the same period last year - up to 1.2 billion US dollars.
