Kryvyi Rih Mining and Metallurgical Plant of PJSC ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih (AMKR, Dnipropetrovsk region), the largest mining and metallurgical enterprise in Ukraine, announced a decision on Monday to limit electricity consumption by the most energy-intensive equipment and temporarily reduce current production.

“This is important to reduce electricity consumption in Krivoy Rog and the safety of personnel, which is our key priority,” the company says on Facebook.

At the same time, AMKR noted that the shipment of products to customers is carried out as planned.

“We hope to return to the regular work schedule of production equipment after the stabilization of energy supply in the country,” the company noted.

In addition, AMKR announced the start of the process of shutting down coke batteries No. 1-2 this week as part of the fulfillment of obligations enshrined in the environmental programs of Kryvyi Rih and Dnepropetrovsk region.

“Coke production will take place on coke batteries No. 5-6, modern, high-tech and meeting environmental standards. New batteries are more gas-tight, which eliminates gas losses that are allowed on old batteries, and the level of dust and gas contamination of the air in the working area is reduced by 30%,” said Mauro Longobardo, General Director of AMKR.

ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog is the largest producer of rolled steel in Ukraine. It specializes in the production of long products, in particular rebar and wire rod.
