Krivoy Rog Mining and Metallurgical Plant PJSC ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog is gradually increasing production, putting into operation previously idle units.

“If earlier we worked at 25% of capacity, now we are gradually increasing the level every day production. This, in turn, will lead to an increase in jobs and the volume of taxes for our city and the economy of Ukraine,” states the press service of the metallurgical plant.

It is clarified that from April 21 to April 24 inclusive, the launch of coke oven batteries is planned No. 3-4, which will provide raw materials for increasing the volume of blast furnace production.

“We draw the attention of Krivoy Rog residents to the fact that when starting coke oven batteries, a noticeable emission of smoke is possible. We inform you that the smoke caused by the technological startup process, the situation is safe for city residents,” says the press release.

As reported, ArcelorMittal Kryvyi Rih increased steel production by 93% in January-March 2024 compared to the same period in 2023 - up to 278 thousand tons. The output of blast furnace coke amounted to 245 against 211 thousand tons (an increase of 16%), cast iron - 403 thousand tons against 392 thousand tons (an increase of 3%), steel - 278 against 250 thousand tons (an increase of 11%), rolled products 262 thousand tons versus 230 thousand tons (14% more).

Production growth compared to the first quarter of 2023 ranges from 50 to 94%, depending on the type of product. The indicators for the first quarter of 2024 also reflect gradual progress in restoring the plant’s production capacity.

“We plan to continue the production development program, in particular, in the near future to approach 50% of the utilization of metallurgical production capacity. At the same time, the stability of energy supply remains a significant factor in the successful implementation of our plans,” said AMKR General Director Mauro Longobardo earlier.

ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog is the largest producer of rolled steel in Ukraine. Specializes in the production of long products, in particular, rebar and wire rod. The British mining and metallurgical holding of Indian billionaire Lakshmi Mittal ArcelorMittal owns the largest mining and metallurgical plant ArcelorMittal Krivoy Rog in Ukraine and a number of small companies, in particular PJSC ArcelorMittal Berislav.
