The national railway operator of Ukraine was forced to come out with a refutation of reports about the alleged blocking of shipments of metallurgical raw materials in the direction of the Czech Republic.

JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" continues transportation of goods from JSC "Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Plant" in the direction of the Czech Republic. As noted in the press service of the carrier, the information covered in the media space on blocking the transportation of these ore cargoes is not true.

Thus, in 2023, by order of JSC "Kryvyi Rih Iron Ore Plant", 166.859 thousand tons, in February - 200.704 thousand tons, in March - 166.919 thousand tons, in April - 157.294 thousand tons and in the first - 157.292 thousand tons.

Ukrzaliznytsia believes that the published information about the alleged The blocking of the above transportation may be a reflection of the competition between the forwarding companies, the owners of the rolling stock.

Earlier, a number of media outlets published, citing a letter from the Slovak company to the Ukrainian authorities, alleging that Ukrzaliznytsia allegedly blocked the transportation of iron ore to the largest in the Czech Republic metallurgical enterprise.

JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, as a national carrier, provides equal conditions for cooperation for all participants in the freight transportation market and does not want to interfere in their competition.

Also, the disclosure of this false information may harm the business reputation of the company, and Ukrzaliznytsia reserves the right to take legal action in order to protect its business reputation,” the company’s press release says.

Krivoy Rog Iron Ore Plant (KZHRK) in In January-April of the current year, the plant reduced the production of commercial iron ore from underground mining by 31.4% compared to the same period last year - to 805 thousand tons.

In 2022, the plant reduced the production of commercial iron ore from underground mining by 32.8% compared to the previous year - up to 2.888 million tons.

KZHRK specializes in underground mining of iron ore. Starmill Limited owns 99.88% of the mill's shares. Earlier it was reported that the SCM group owns a certain share in KZHRK, while the Metinvest group has nothing to do with KZHRK. At the same time, the SCM group is only an investor, and the operational control at the plant is carried out by the Privat group.
