The German defense concern Rheinmetall will start maintenance and repair of tanks in Ukraine in the coming days, its CEO Armin Papperger said in an interview with the Frankfurter Allgemeine Sonntagszeitung, published on Saturday, August 19.
Earlier It was reported that Germany is sending Leopard battle tanks to Ukraine. Since the wear of tanks in battle is high, regular maintenance is important, so Rheinmetall is opening an appropriate maintenance center in Ukraine for this purpose.
Papperger also confirmed his intention to start production of tanks in Ukraine as soon as possible, since the country is in some then the moment should become independent in the production of weapons, the head of the German concern emphasized.
“It cannot be that the West pays all the bills forever, President Zelensky also sees it this way,” Papperger is convinced.
