The German arms manufacturer Rheinmetall plans to create at least four factories in Ukraine. This was announced by Rheinmetall CEO Armin Papperger during the presentation of the company's results for 2023, Ukrinform reports citing The Guardian.

It is noted that factories in Ukraine will produce shells, military equipment and anti-aircraft weapons.

“Ukraine is now an important partner for us. Here we see a potential of 2-3 billion euros (sales – ed.) per year,” Papperger said.

Rheinmetall also plans to build a plant in Lithuania, where Germany intends to deploy a brigade-sized military unit on an ongoing basis to help secure NATO's eastern flank.

The company said it plans to ramp up production of artillery shells as European allies try to increase production to provide Kyiv with more ammunition.

In the past year, Rheinmetall founded its first joint venture with a Ukrainian partner for the maintenance and repair of tanks in Ukraine.

In February of this year in Munich, they signed a memorandum on the production of Rheinmetall ammunition in Ukraine.
