DTEK has launched a new wind power plant in Zaporizhia region

Total capacity of the company of Rinat Akhmetov to generate "green" electricity has reached 1 MW.

DTEK has launched a new wind power plant in Zaporizhia region

DTEK jointly with the Danish company Vestas, world leader in the manufacture of wind turbines, completed the construction of the Oryol wind farm in Zaporizhia region with a capacity of 100 MW. Thus, the company fulfilled one of its strategic goals is to produce 1 GW of clean generation by 2020.

Orel VES – the third project of DTEK wind power. The station is located on the Azov sea coast in Zaporizhya region. Wind installed 26 wind turbine company Vestas with a capacity of 3.8 MW each. Investments in Orel VES amounted to 131 million euros, of which about 40 million Euro it services and equipment to the Ukrainian contractors.

every year in Orel, the wind farm will produce about 380 million kWh of green electricity. This is enough to meet the needs of almost 190 thousand households. The work of the Oryol WEC will help to reduce CO₂ emissions by 400 thousand tons per year.

"Two years ago, the company publicly announced its strategic goal – by the end of 2019 to construct 1 GW of green generation. Today we achieved it by investing in renewable energy of Ukraine more than 1 billion euros, and create unique expertise, which was implemented, these ambitious and innovative projects, – said Maxim Timchenko, CEO of DTEK. We are sure that Ukraine is able to become the leader of decarbonization in Europe, providing our country with their own, clean energy. Urge unite around this idea all the parties concerned".

Total for 2019 DTEK renewables launched projects in green energy with a total capacity of 740 MW: Nikopol SES (200 AC/DC 240 MW), the intercession of SES (240 AC/DC 323 MW), Primorsk wind farms (200 MW), Oryol wind farms (100 MW). Previously implemented projects of DTEK RES – Botievo wind farm (200 MW) and Trifunovska SES (10 MW). The constructed station will generate about 2.5 billion kWh of green electricity, reducing emissions by 2.6 million tons.
